Each year I set time to make goals for myself. In fact, it has become an early January tradition for the entire family. We reflect on the past year, review our goals, and talk about our high and low points from the year. We also take the time to discuss some of our favorite memories made in the past 12 months. Afterward, we shift gears and set our sights on the year ahead.
We all have things we want to do, want to experience, or want to improve. Take the time to write them down. It doesn't matter if they are digital or using pen and paper but they need to be noted.
Not only should they be written but they should be SMART.
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achieveable
R - Realistic
T - Timebound
Set about to accomplish them. Actively work on them.
Check in....Take time weekly, monthly or quarterly to check in. Review what you set-out to accomplish. Make sure they are still relevant. If you've completed them or they are no longer relevant, write a new goal or two.
Share them! Goals are far more achievable if you have someone to share them with. Someone who will hold you accountable to them. Someone who will challenge you. Don't be afraid, even if your goals sound strange.
One of my personal goals for 2018 is to read at least one book per month!
